We got zoombombed badly. So we put together a script from a range of different sources (thanks Pamela Hathway). The hosts that implemented it had very little trouble. It is not clear that all these measures are needed but jointly they made large group, big target, meetings possible. They are still annoying.

Before the meeting:

• Go to the zoom.us website and then go to Profile->Settings (https://zoom.us/profile/setting)

• Make sure the following settings are set to:

• Participants video: OFF

• Join before host: OFF

• Only Authenticated users can join meetings: ON

• Embed password in meeting link for one-click join: OFF

• Mute participants upon entry: ON

• Co-host: ON

• Screen sharing: Host Only

• Annotations: OFF

• Remote control: OFF

• Whiteboard: OFF

• Show a ‘join from browser’ link: ON

• Private Chat: OFF

When you set up the meeting:

• Meeting ID: Generate Automatically

• Require password: ON (set it to what the organisors agree upon)

• Use: OurPassword

• Video: Participants: OFF

Advanced options:

• Enable waiting room: ON

• Enable join before host: OFF

• Mute participants on entry: ON

• Double Check that Only Authenticated users can join meetings is ON

When you start the meeting (no one else is in the room yet):

• Display the participants (click on Manage participants on bottom panel)

• click on Mute All at bottom of participants panel

• SELECT Mute participants on Entry

• click on More at bottom of participants panel

• DESELECT Allow participants to unmute themselves, click Continue

• DESELECT Allow participants to rename themselves

During the meeting:

• Make sure you see the Participants panel.

• Once a presenter or co-host joins, hover over their name in Participants, click More and click Make Co-Host

• If someone is showing disruptive content on their video, remove them

• If someone disrupts the chat, remove them

If there are multiple trolls:

• click on More at bottom of participants panel

• SELECT Put participants in waiting room

• You will see the “waiting room” there, where you can see the names of the people wanting to join.

• Remove accounts from people with obviously fake names.

If you are getting overwhelmed by trolls:

• Disable the chat and lock the meeting
